Armenian poet Varuzhan Hastur awarded medal in honor of 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi

The Union of Writers of Armenia hosted a ceremony to award the jubilee medal “On the 300th Anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi” to poet and translator Varuzhan Khastur.The award was presented on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldy Ayazov.

This was stated in the statement of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Union of Writers of Armenia Edward Militonyan, members of the union, famous writers and poets of Armenia, as well as representatives of the scientific intelligentsia.

In his speech, Edward Militonyan noted the significance of the work of Magtymguly Fragi and the contribution of Varuzhan Khastur to the popularization of his heritage.

Ambassador Ayazov emphasized that the year 2024 in Turkmenistan is held under the motto “The Treasury of Makhtumkuli Fragi’s Mind”, and various events dedicated to this date were held throughout the year.

He also noted that Varuzhan Khastur and Associate Professor of Yerevan State University Amalia Aghajanyan were awarded the medal “On the 300th Anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi” for their contribution to the development of cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Armenia.

Varuzhan Khastur expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their high appreciation of his work.

The ceremony ended with the recitation of Hastur’s translations into Armenian.
