Armenian PM’s Advisor Discusses Energy Cooperation-Related Matters in Ashgabat

Armenian Prime Minister’s Advisor Artashes Tumanyan visited Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on June 7-8 to discuss programs of regional and bilateral economic cooperation, including in energy sphere.

During the visit, Artashes Tumanyan met with the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government overseeing the country's oil and gas industry Shahym Abdrakhmanov, who is also the co-chair of the Turkmenistan-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The Armenian official also held talks with Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government for the industrial and construction complex, Armenpress reported on Wednesday.

During the meetings, the sides touched upon issues related to cooperation in the gas and energy sectors and preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Turkmenistan-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The Minister of Petroleum of Iran Javad Owji in a meeting with Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan in Tehran last month said his country is ready to transport Turkmen gas to Armenia through a swap system.
