An international conference dedicated to the ancient fortress of Amul will be held in Turkmenistan

On April 25 - 26, Turkmenistan will host the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Ancient Fortress of Amul: Keeper of the Secrets of the Past.”

This was announced at a government meeting held on Thursday by Deputy Prime Minister N. Amannepesov.

The conference is being organized on the occasion of the inclusion of the Amul fortress in the “Great Silk Road: Zarafshan - Karakum Corridor” site, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The organizers of the conference are the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and the hyakimlik of Lebap velayat.

The purpose of the forum is to attract the attention of the world scientific community to the ancient Amul fortress, create a scientific platform through excavations and research activities, develop cultural diplomacy and widely popularize this information in the international space.

The conference is expected to involve famous Turkmen and foreign historians, archaeologists, orientalists, and international UNESCO experts.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to hold the International Scientific and Practical Conference at a high level and ensure wide participation of scientists in its work, TDH reports.
