An interactive map of the archaeological sites of Turkmenistan has been developed

Scientists and specialists of the Laboratory of Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have created an interactive map of the country’s archaeological sites, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The development contains information about the map, a list and textual description of archaeological sites, the interactive map itself, and also contact information.

The map displays the name of monuments, their location, distance and directions to etrap centers, and also photographs of sights.

It displays in layers the settlements on the territory of Turkmenistan and in the border states, water bodies (rivers, lakes), roads, railways, the route of the Great Silk Road, a background with a relief and a background with satellite images.

The functions of generalization when zooming in/out, moving around the map, switching layers and searching for objects by name are included into the map.

Monuments such as Nisa and Parzdepe have 3D display models, that open in separate tabs via links.

The group of developers of the laboratory has already received a copyright certificate for the computer program № 218 from the State Intellectual Property Service of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, notes the source.
