Last Sunday, devoted fans of Kurbannazar Ezizov gathered at the Juma Studio.Among them were performing artists, musicians, poetry enthusiasts, and young people, who were eager to learn more about the remarkable Turkmen poet who would have turned 80 on March 1.

I have come to realize that there are poets who have earned the title of People’s Writer, and there are poets who have earned the love of many people.

It is the love of Kurbannazar Ezizov’s poetry that does not allow us to speak about him in the past tense. My father lives on in the lines of his poetry pulsating with his emotions, full of his love and deep feelings, and his heart keeps beating...

Boys and girls, members of the choir of the Special Children’s Boarding School at the Turkmen National Music Conservatory, sang with their vibrant, sonorous voices several songs with lyrics by the poet.

Nury Khalmamedov, Kurbannazarov Ezizov’s friend and co-author, set most of poems by the poet to music.Following the children, People’s Artists of Turkmenistan Nury Khudaykuliev, Atajan Berdyev, and Lyale Begnazarova took the stage to sing songs Can’t Escape Your Eyes’, To Daughters’, and A Lullaby Song’, among others. - I did not know the great poet of Turkmenistan Kurbannazar Ezizov personally, but when I sing the song To Daughters’, first of all, I sing it to my daughters, expressing my love for them through the beautiful and touching lines composed by Kurbannazar Ezizov, Atajan Berdyev told.

Speaking at the evening of poetry, composer Dangatar Khydyrov, who has put many poems by Kurbannazar Ezizov to music, said that the poet had unique talent for expressing thoughts of his generation sincerely and metaphorically.

Actress Tatiana Ovezmuradova brilliantly illustrated this by reciting the poet’s poems, having powerfully and clearly conveyed Ezizov’s feelings, thoughts and emotional shades. “I ate your bread...” is an opening line of a poem called Motherland’.

I can’t escape your eyes’ the poet confessed to his sweetheart in his poem Love’.The Ballad About A Song’ moved the guests to tears. At the close of the poetry evening, the guests were offered to listen to the poet’s recitation of one of his poems recorded on tape: “When you wake up at dawn, touch the ground with your hand...” Leaving the Studio, the guests had a keen desire to get home as soon as possible, to open a book of poems by Kurbannazar Ezizov and to immerse themselves again in the magic of his deeply expressive and soul-stirring words.

Among those attending the event were three girls, who love the art of Calliope (the Muse of Epic Poetry in Greek mythology). As it turned out, the senior high school students Zlata, Sofia, and Kseniya go to the Art-ist Children’s Drama School.

The girls told that they had heard the poems by Kurbannazar Ezizov for the first time and discovered the fascinating, exciting and richly diverse world of poetry that inspires to start a dialogue on the fundamental principles of life.
