The opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi was held at the State Museum of Fine Arts in Ashgabat, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The central exhibit of the exhibition was a new portrait by artist Rahman Umarov “Magtymguly”, in which the author presented his vision of the image of the classic.
The author decided to move away from the canonical image created by Ayhan Hajiyev in 1947 and which for a long time served as a guide for other painters.
Most of the paintings presented at the exhibition belong to the brush of the People's Artist of Turkmenistan Ayhan Hajiyev. These are portraits of Magtymguly, as well as scenes from his life. The exhibition is complemented by the triptych of Rejepberdy Muhammedov “The Great Silk Road”, which conveys the atmosphere of the era of the Turkmen classic.
The exhibition aroused great interest among admirers of Magtymguly Fragi’s work and lovers of fine art.
