Almost 300 people died in the earthquake in Morocco

On the night of September 9, an earthquake of magnitude 6,9 occurred in Morocco, reports RIA Novosti with reference to information from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

The epicenter was located 80 kilometers from Marrakesh, but the tremors were felt within a radius of about 400 kilometers from the site.

There are casualties and injuries; according to the latest data, 296 people were killed and 153 were injured.

After the first shock, a series of aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 3,2 to 6 were observed. Residents of the cities of Marrakesh and Agadir spent the night on the streets, fearing destruction from aftershocks. Field hospitals for the victims have been set up in Marrakesh.
