Alexander Lukashenko confirmed participation in the 2025 presidential elections

The current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, intends to participate in the upcoming presidential elections, which will be held in early 2025. He announced this in an interview with Russian TV presenter Olga Skabeeva for the program “60 Minutes” on the TV channel “Russia-1”, TASS writes.

When asked directly about his participation in the upcoming elections, the Belarusian leader answered in the affirmative, also positively assessing the approved voting date January 26, 2025.

The decision on the date of the presidential elections was made by the lower house of the Belarusian parliament based on a proposal from the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic. Thus, the election campaign in Belarus officially received a time frame, and the current head of state became the first candidate to publicly declare his intention to run.
