Aleksandr Dadayev resigns as Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs

The state information agency TDH reports that on 1 April, 2020 it was announced at the board meeting of Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs that Aleksandr Dadayev will resign from the post of the Chairperson due to his retirement.

Dovran Khudaiberdyev, Former Deputy Chairperson of the organization, will temporarily be appointed acting Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs was set up in 2008 and Aleksandr Dadayev has headed the organization since that time.The Union positions itself as an NGO which is committed to providing support to small and medium business in Turkmenistan.

In fact, according to some sources of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, the Union is an agency, which is used by the government to exercise control over entrepreneurs.Membership in the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is a mandatory requirement to obtain state contracts.

However, business owners are often forced to fund some construction projects.
