Air transport services volume in Turkmenistan increased by 48,3%

The “Turkmenhowayollary” Agency demonstrated high growth in the indicators of the transport sector of Turkmenistan, achieving an increase in the volume of services by 48,3% during the reporting period. This was reported by the

Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammethan Chakyev at a government meeting, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

According to Chakyev, the overall growth rate for the performance of work and provision of services in the transport complex amounted to 117,2%. All types of transport showed positive dynamics: freight transportation grew by 2,7%, passenger transportation - by 4,2%.

Other transport agencies in the country also showed significant growth. The indicators of “Turkmenaragatnashyk” increased by 14,3%, “Turkmendenizderyayollary” by 12,8%, “Turkumenawtoulaglary” by 9,5%, and “Turkmendemiryollary” by 2,5%.

The country is actively developing its transport infrastructure: construction of a railway station in the city of Arkadag has begun, work is underway to create a warehouse complex at the Turgundi station and to build the Turgundi-Sanabar section of the first stage of the Turgundi-Herat railway.

A new railway bridge on the Serhetabat-Turgundi highway has also been commissioned.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to accelerate the implementation of digital systems in the transport sector and take measures to increase passenger and freight turnover, paying special attention to increasing the capacity of railways.
