Сorrespondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that after celebrations of the Day of Neutrality supplies of meat to state-run stores in Ashgabat have plummeted.
Meat is delivered to stores in “Mir” and “Jennet” markets irregularly and in small quantities. Residents join the queues at 6 a.m. and by 7 a.m. meat is sold out.
No meat has been delivered to stores in “Azatlyk” market since 11 December, 2021. On 11 and 12 December meat at affordable prices was also not available in the shop located at the intersection of Turkmenbashi avenue and Shevchenko street.
Main customers purchasing groceries at subsidized prices in Ashgabat stores are residents of nearby villages where the economic and financial crisis is experienced more acutely than in the capital.
Meat at 35 manats per kilo appeared on the counters of stores after the President instructed to provide residents with abundant groceries in the run-up to holidays the Day of Neutrality and the New Year’s holiday.
Residents are hoping that meat shops will be re-opened by the end of the month.
As was previously reported, on 13 and 14 December residents of Parakhat-1 and Parakhat-4 districts received additional ration packs on the occasion of the Day of Neutrality.
On 15 December ration packs, consisting of a 3 kilo chicken weighing over 3 kilos and 15 eggs, were delivered to residents of Parakhat-7 districts. An hour later, at about midnight, a regular ration pack of 20 eggs was also delivered. The post After celebrations of the Day of Neutrality meat supply to Ashgabat state-run stores drops drastically first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
