Recently in Ashgabat, at the “Archabil” hotel, a training on water diplomacy, international water law and rational use of water resources was held.
Within the framework of the training there was held a presentation of an already developed training course on the rational use of water resources, the safety of hydraulic structures and transboundary water cooperation, intended for introduction into the curriculum in higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
This training course was developed within the framework of the USAID Regional Project on Water Resources and Environment, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The training conducted is intended to be a step towards introducing the discipline of water diplomacy and international water law into the educational process in Turkmenistan.
Specialists and experts of the project told participants about the country’s experience in working on transboundary sites, the legal framework and international agreements on the joint use and protection of shared waters using the example of the Dostluk reservoir, as well as about international experience in the field of rational use of water resources.
