A tennis player Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan became the winner of Wimbledon

Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan became the winner of Wimbledon in women’s singles. In final of the competition she beat the representative of Tunisia Uns Jabir — 3:6, 6:2, 6:2. The paly continued 1 hour 47 minutes.

For both tennis players this final was the first one in their careers at the “Grand Slam” tournaments.

Rybakina at the Wimbledon 2022 was seed under the number 17.She won 4 matches one by one with a score 2-0 and for the first time in the career entered the quarterfinals of this “Grand Slam” tournament.

In the quarterfinals, she beat the Australia Ayla Tomljanovic with a score 4:6, 6:2, 6:3 and for the first time in her career, she reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament.

In the semifinals, the former first racket of the world Romanian Simona Halep was beaten with a score of 6:3, 6:3.In the final, Rybakina beat the second racket of the world Uns Jabir — 3:6, 6:2, 6:2, becoming the first tennis player from Kazakhstan to win a Grand Slam tournament.

Elena Rybakina was born in Moscow in 1999. Until 2018 Rybakina represented Russia, then she changed her citizenship to Kazakhstan.

On Sunday, the winner of Wimbledon in men's singles will be announced: the world ranking leader Novak Djokovic and Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios will play in the final.
