A temporary land port will appear on the border of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan for the construction of TAPI

The Afghan Ministry of Finance has announced the appearance in the near future of a temporary land port in the Chashma-Salim region on the border of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, which will service the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, RIA Novosti reports.

“A temporary port will be created on the border of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan”, - the press service of the department said in a statement following a meeting of specialized delegations of the two countries held in the city of Serkhetabad.

It is noted that the meeting discussed issues of sending technical personnel, equipment and machinery to Afghanistan to implement the TAPI gas pipeline project.

“Afghanistan is committed to the implementation of the TAPI project and confirmed that the agreements with Turkmenistan on the implementation of the Afghan section of the gas pipeline will be implemented after the exchange of official notes between the foreign ministries of the two countries”, - the statement said.

As noted by the First Deputy of the Chamber of Mines of Afghanistan, Sakhi Ahmad Payman, the temporary land port will speed up the implementation of the gas pipeline project connecting Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

“The new port between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will be effective both economically and politically. It will provide more opportunities for the implementation of the TAPI project and the expansion of interstate relations”, - the Tolo news portal quotes him as saying.
