The National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NTRCS), in partnership with UNICEF, organized training for youth on emergency preparedness and response.
More than 80 volunteers from various NTRCS volunteer centers, as well as interested youth, participated in the event, which was held at the “Yashlyk” Children's Health Center in Gökdere.
The participants were involved in practical and simulation-immersive classes, which were conducted for them by NTRCS instructors. The exercises helped to develop practical skills in specific emergency situations.
As a result of the training, a special team of NTRCS instructors was trained, who will continue to train young people according to the “Peer-to-Peer” model. This team will play a key role in preparing local communities to quickly respond to emergencies and security issues.
Sofia Yuvshanova, Acting Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Turkmenistan, noted:
The event was organized within the framework of the regional program “Strengthening Local and National Capacity for Emergency Preparedness and Response in High-Earthquake and Disaster-Prone Countries of Central Asia” funded by the USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), according to a UNICEF press release.
