A seminar on providing social support to people in difficult life situations was held in Turkmenistan

A five-day seminar dedicated to providing social support to women and families who find themselves in difficult life situations was held in Turkmenistan in July.

The workshop was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to train social work specialists and psychologists to provide social services and psychological counseling to women and families from vulnerable groups.

The seminar was held in collaboration with the National Red Crescent Society and contributed to the coordination of the work of social work specialists, according to the UNFPA website.

The seminar was attended by more than 70 people, including representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the National Red Crescent Society, the public association “Keyik okara”, as well as social work specialists.

The training was organized within the framework of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and contributed to enhancing the capacity of social work specialists in the field of gender equality. Ensuring the quality of services provided in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On Social Services” was also discussed.
