A round table dedicated to the culture of ancient Anau was held at the Ashgabat Museum

A round table dedicated to the culture of ancient Anau was held yesterday at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. The event was organized in honor of Anau being awarded the status of the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.

As CentralAsia.news reports, one of the topics of discussion was the medieval architectural complex the Seyit Jemaledin Mosque.

Participants of the event noted that the unique mosaic decoration of the mosque portal, made with great skill, testifies to the advanced development of the architectural art of Anau.

The mosque was severely damaged as a result of the devastating earthquake of 1948, but representatives of scientific and creative professions from around the world have not lost interest in it.

As the senior curator of museum values, Mahri Atdaeva, noted, Anau, as an agricultural center, had its own special significance. The sensational discoveries of cereals here made it possible to scientifically substantiate the fact that selective varieties of grain crops were used in this region thousands of years ago.

The scientist recalled that today the country, with the participation of international experts, is actively working on an in-depth study of the national heritage and emphasized the invaluable contribution of the state.
