A passenger plane carrying 61 people crashed in Brazil

A Voepass passenger plane crashed near Sao Paulo, with 61 people on board. Local authorities confirmed that none of the passengers or crew survived, BBC News reports.

The ATR 72, flying from Cascavel to Guarulhos airport, crashed in the middle of a residential area, but no one was injured on the ground.Video on social media showed the plane falling vertically and going into a tailspin.

Police and firefighters are working at the scene of the disaster, and the Brazilian television channel GloboNews showed smoking debris and a fire.

According to Flightradar24, the plane was built in 2010 and was in good condition. The cause of the crash is still unknown, as the crew did not report any problems before the crash.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared three days of mourning for the victims and expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
