A number of presentations on climate were held among young people in the northern region of Turkmenistan

Within the framework of the events for the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, which was celebrated on June 17, a number of information presentations on climate issues were held among young people in the city of Dashoguz.

Information events were organized by the UNDP project “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea Basin for multiple benefits” in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

Project staff and volunteers held lectures to raise awareness among the young population about the problem of land degradation and the importance of preserving ecological systems in the context of climate change.

Lectures were held on the basis of the training center “Merdem Yashlar”, NGO “Eco-durmush” and the American corner of Dashoguz velayat.

In general, about 100 representatives of local youth participated in this action as listeners. Participants shared their opinions on this issue, as well as proposed ideas with a full understanding of the degree of their social and environmental responsibility, according to a UNDP press release.

The youth of the region at this stage is actively involved in public life through participation in environmental events, events aimed at increasing their motivation and level of knowledge, volunteering.
