Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov held a meeting with the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China for Afghan Affairs Yue Xiaoyong, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
During the meeting, the parties noted the high level of strategic partnership between the countries, based on mutual understanding and support. A special role in strengthening bilateral relations belongs to regular contacts between the leaders of Turkmenistan and China.
The meeting participants noted the similarity of the two countries’ positions on many pressing issues on the global and regional agenda. It was noted that Turkmenistan and China are actively interacting to restore the economy and stability in Afghanistan, including within the framework of the format of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
Gurbanov emphasized the important role of multilateral platforms in promoting sustainable development in Afghanistan. At the same time, Turkmenistan considers peacebuilding in Afghanistan from the position of unity of political, economic and humanitarian directions.
Politically, Turkmenistan stands for the development of dialogue with the new authorities of Afghanistan. In the economic sphere - for the involvement of Afghanistan in regional integration processes. In humanitarian terms - for continuing to provide assistance to Afghanistan.
The Turkmen side also considers it important to hold consultations with Afghan officials on security and counter-terrorism issues. In conclusion, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue to provide comprehensive support to Afghanistan on the principles of friendship and good neighborliness.
