A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the director of the department for accession to the WTO

Today the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vep Hajiev met with the Director of the WTO Accession Department Maika Oshikawa, who is on a working visit to Ashgabat.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed topical issues of enhancing cooperation in the context of the process of Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO.

According to the Work Plan for 2023-2024 to expand the country's interaction with the WTO Secretariat, Turkmenistan is actively working domestically to prepare a Memorandum on the foreign trade regime, the surrender of which is one of the conditions for joining the WTO.

Along with this, the consistent work of the Interdepartmental Government Commission for the study of issues related to accession to the WTO was noted. It was also noted that active work of Turkmenistan with the UN and its specialized agencies, international financial institutions such as the IDB and ADB has been established.
