A massive fire at a coal plant in China claimed the lives of 25 people

A massive fire at a coal plant in northern China's Shanxi Province has killed 25 people. Earlier, China Central Television reported 19 casualties and 51 wounded, RIA Novosti writes.

The fire started at 6:50 a.m. local time on Thursday on the second floor of the Yongju Coal private company building.

According to media reports, the fire at the coal plant has been brought under control, but the fate of the people who were in the building at the time of the fire is still unknown. The search and rescue operation continues.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established and an investigation is underway.
