A dead whale carcass exploded on the US Pacific coast

The carcass of a dead humpback whale exploded off the coast of California, reported “Argumenty i Fakty”. The spectacle was witnessed by local fishermen who used their smartphones to film the dead sea giant floating past their ship.

People did not expect this, although there are cases where the bodies of dead whales explode under the influence of gases that form in the carcass due to decomposition processes.

This effect was well known to fishermen in the old days. To prevent the carcasses of dead whales from exploding, they were pierced with harpoons in several places, after which the bodies were gradually immersed in the water.

The footage, which eyewitnesses posted on social media, shows the whale carcass slowly drowning shortly after the explosion.
