A “day of silence” has come in Turkmenistan before the elections to the Mejlis

Today, a “day of silence” has come in Turkmenistan before the elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of the halk maslahaty and Gengeshes.

Since March 25, any election campaigning has been banned in the country. However, printed campaign materials that were previously posted outside the premises of election commissions and polling stations may remain in their original places.

According to the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan for holding elections and referendums, 258 candidates have been registered in the upcoming elections to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, 515 candidates to the members of the velayat and Ashgabat city halk maslahaty, 2001 to the etrap and city halk maslahaty, and 12098 candidates to Gengeshes.

They represent the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, as well as groups of citizens who can also nominate their candidates.

The elections will be held on March 26 from 7:00 to 19:00 Ashgabat time. All citizens of Turkmenistan who have reached the age of 18 on the voting day can take part in the voting. You must have a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan with you.
