A cultural event “Turkmenistan. The great legacy of Magtymguly Fragi” was held in St. Petersburg

Recently, a large-scale cultural and educational event “Turkmenistan. The great legacy of Magtymguly Fragi” was held in St. Petersburg.

The event, organized by the “Mekan” Society of Turkmen Culture in St. Petersburg together with the “Anima” Education Center with the support of the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities and the city government, was held in the Marble Hall of the Russian Ethnographic Museum.

The cultural event was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi on the eve of another significant event of this year - the opening of his monument in the center of St. Petersburg.

The head of the Turkmen Culture Society in St.Petersburg “Mekan” Nurgeldi Seyidov, speaking to the audience, expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the constant support of compatriots living in Russia and St.

Petersburg, as well as to Governor Alexander Beglov for assistance in the implementation of international projects aimed to strengthen interethnic friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and St.Petersburg.

One of these projects is the planned opening this year of the monument to Magtymguly Fragi in the center of St. Petersburg.

The extensive program of the festive event included an exhibition of Turkmen national decorative and applied arts, painting, as well as books written by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Within the framework of the cultural event, a concert was held, during which the audience was introduced to the sound of the Turkmen dutar and folk dances were shown. At the end of the evening, a fashion show of designer models and traditional Turkmen clothing was held.

The event was attended by leaders of national cultural associations, charitable organizations, members of the government of St. Petersburg, cultural figures and a film crew from the city television “Channel Five”.

Young activists of the Council of Turkmen Students in St. Petersburg “Bagtyrlyk” became active assistants in the event, reports the press service of the Society of Turkmen Culture in St. Petersburg “Mekan”.
