A conference dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan held in Ashgabat

Diplomatic workers of Turkmenistan celebrate their professional holiday. A high-level scientific conference dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan “The Diplomacy of Turkmenistan Its Past, Its Present and Its Future” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (IMO MFA).

Representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, as well as senior teachers and rectors of leading universities attended the event. Discussing the importance of the diplomatic service, the conference participants praised the achievements of Turkmenistan in foreign and domestic policy. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Ashgabat Aleksandr Blokhin delivered a welcoming speech.

“I am pleased to express my sincere congratulations to my colleagues, and firstly, to the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who leads the country’s foreign policy, as Vladimir Putin determines it in my country.

And we, the ministries of foreign affairs of Russia and Turkmenistan, are implementing these visions of the President, it is our mandate.It is very important to assign the foreign policy direction it is a key thing, at the same time, the implementation of assigned tasks is important as well.”

The Head of State also spoke about the implementation and vectors of the country’s foreign policy during a recent government session. On the eve of the celebration of the Diplomatic Workers Day, a decree was signed on introduction of an insignia for employees of the diplomatic service “Türkmenistanyň ussat diplomaty”.

In his address to the participants of the scientific conference, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined:

The foreign policy of our country, based on the principles of neutrality, contributes to the development of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations in the international arena.

Turkmenistan, starting from the first steps of its independence, adheres to the principles of neutrality in international relations and foreign policy.The positive experience accumulated over 25 years in fact had confirmed the full compliance of the policy of neutrality with our national interests and the goals of the UN.

A vivid evidence of this is the recognition of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan by two special Resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly.”

After the completion of the conference, the solemn ceremony of awarding Diplomas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to young diplomats and graduate year students was held. Would-be diplomats delivered speeches to the guests of the event in English, German, Turkmen and Russian.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the highly Esteemed President Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich for his tireless concern for the student youth of our country and express thanks to the teaching staff of our university for the invaluable contribution to the future of diplomatic workers,” said Alty Altyev, a fifth-year student of the Faculty of International Journalism, IMO MFA. “I would also like to congratulate both current and future diplomats on the Day of the Diplomatic Worker of Turkmenistan.”
