300 private houses near the monument to the Central Asia shepherd dog to be demolished in Ashgabat in March

Сorrespondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that about 300 private houses located between Gerogly street and elite apartment blocks in the 16th district are scheduled to be demolished in Ashgabat.

16 apartment blocks, shopping centre “Gül zemin” as well as the monument to the Central Asia shepherd dog in the 16th district of the capital were opened by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in November 2020.

The municipal authorities informed home owners that the demolition works will be launched in March.By this time the owners will need to move to rental accommodation or stay with their relatives.

In return, they have been offered apartments in new apartment blocks in Abadan etrap (formerly, Bezmein) in a year and a half to two years.

Before 2013 Abadan was a separate city but was subsequently included in the administrative area of the capital. It is located far from the city centre and for this reason residents are reluctant to move there but they have no other choice.

It remains unknown what will be built instead of demolished property.

In July 2021 designs of new buildings were shown to Berdymukhammedov. Some of them will be located in the residential area.

For instance, in December 2021 four-storey apartment blocks were demolished at the intersection of Turkmenbashi and Atamurat Niyazov’s avenue to be replaced with a new building of municipal services. The post 300 private houses near the monument to the Central Asia shepherd dog to be demolished in Ashgabat in March first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
