289 Turkmen Pilgrims to Journey to Mecca for Hajj

289 Turkmen pilgrims will travel to Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform the Hajj during the period from June 10 to July 9, 2024.

As reported by the official Turkmen media, the corresponding decree was signed by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on Monday.

The document instructs the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers to organize a special flight to transport pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and back, at the expense of the Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmen Airlines) agency's funds.

The Hajj is performed during the days of Eid al-Adha. Every year, citizens of Turkmenistan are sent on a pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina to perform the Hajj.
