President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is leaving on working visit for New York on September 29 to take part in the work of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Multifaceted cooperation with the UN is strategic vector of foreign policy of Turkmenistan, which is based on the principles of positive neutrality and wide international cooperation.Based on extensive experience of cooperation, this partnership has gained new specific content at modern stage.
Growing dynamics, which is inherent to fruitful relations with the United Nations, was caused by active participation of Turkmenistan in the affairs of the world community and its intent to provide real support in solution of topical problems of the humankind.
This position, the same like foreign course of Turkmen state in general steadily pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, received wide recognition and support of the UN.This is vividly indicated by the fact that independent neutral Turkmenistan has been selected as the Vice-chairman of the 58th, 62nd, 64th, 68th and 71st UN General Assembly.
Besides, our country was repeatedly selected to the composition of competent structures of this organization the UN Economic and Social Council, the UN Population and Development Fund, the UNESCO Executive Council, the UN European Economic Commission and the UN/ECE Committee on Sustainable Energy, the UN Special Programme for Economy of Central Asian Countries, the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the Executive Committee of the Programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Executive Board of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) and other.
Opening of the UN Regional Office for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia by the initiative of Turkmen side, which has no analogues and recommended itself as reliable stronghold of the United Nations in the region, is important and remarkable event in the history of bilateral cooperation.
The Resolution about declaration of December 12 as International Neutrality Day was adopted at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in February 2017.This remarkable event re-confirmed universal importance of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which recommended itself as actual mechanism for establishment of fruitful cooperation, consolidation of true friendly, goodwill relations between the states and nations.
Having joined important UN Conventions and documents, Turkmenistan invariably follows the fulfilment of undertaken obligations.Specific proposals made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which are to support the consolidation of common efforts in such directions as improvement of peace in the region and in global scale, formation of new architecture of energy security, development of transit and transport corridors, recovery after consequences of the Aral crisis, received full understanding of international community, which was laid out in relevant Resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
Therefore, the relations between Turkmenistan and United Nations develop in the atmosphere of understanding and mutual interest in expansion of cooperation in all spectrum.Number of bilateral and multilateral meetings including in the format of Turkmen American Business Council, which has significant role in development of Turkmenistan and the United States of America, is planned during the visit of our delegation to New York.
It is worth reminding that proposal on foundation of this Council was made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the meeting with USA business elite in September 2007 during the visit of the Head of the State to New York for participation in the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly.
This important meeting in Rockefeller Centre with the participation of representatives of the US Government, around 300 top managers of American companies and concerns was strong impulse in Turkmen American business relations and starting point for filling of them with new content.
Development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and USA was outlined as the main objective of the Council with its Headquarter in Washington.Fruitful partnership with leading American companies working in such spheres as oil and gas, oil processing and chemical industry, computer technologies, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics has been established for 10 years since the establishment of the council.
These companies include Boeing, General Electric, John Deere, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Honeywell International Inc., Weatherford, Westport Trading Europe Limited, Coca-Cola and other.Important joint projects have been implemented with the support of this structure.
Launch of the first Turkmen communication satellite TürkmenÄlem 52°E made by competent American space company Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA in April 2015.
Regular forums organized by the Council support the intensification of fruitful relations and comprehensive activation of the contacts between the government and business circles of two countries.For example, success of actively developing cooperation has been analysed, further goals in traditional directions has been formed up and opportunities of establishment of closer connections in such promising spheres as food production and tourism have been reviewed during regular session in Ashgabat in December 2017.
Trilateral Memorandum between John Deere company, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management and Turkmenistan agricultural University on Cooperation in training of personnel for the industry in 2018 2021 has been signed in April this year.
As of May 1, 2018, 156 projects with the participation of American companies to total amount of 2,573,430,000 US dollars and 300,000 Euros have been registered in Turkmenistan.
Rich natural resources, realization of large-scale programmes in modernization, diversification and improvement of export potential of national economy, industrialization and import substitution, gradual transition to market relations, wide support of private sector, favourable investment climate in the country increase the interest of the US business circles to cooperate with our country.
Owing to the measures taken by the President of Turkmenistan, the country achieved high results of economic growth every year, which is good guarantee for activation of investment activity and development of big joint projects.
In this context, further activity of Turkmen American Business Council will not only expand the opportunities for trade, economic and investment cooperation of two countries but also will serve as contribution to development of international cooperation in intercontinental scale.
