28.08.2018 | Kurash wrestling competitions start at the Asian Games

Kurash wrestling contest has started at the XVIII Summer Asian Games.The first day of the competitions was not very successful for our team.Two Turkmen sportsmen, the winner of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, numerous winner of the world and Asian championships Myrat Orazov in the weight category up to 66 kg and the bronze winner of the this world championship Dayanch Taganov above 90 kg, have been qualified for quarter final in this martial art.

They have successfully passed the 1/16 and 1/8 finals, having taking over the wrestlers from Afghanistan and India and two Mongolian sportsmen afterwards.However, our compatriots were not able to make it to the semi-final.

Referees awarded the victory to the representative from Afghanistan in the fight with D.Taganov.M.Orazov has lost to the world champion who lately became the winner of this Asian Games.

Our boxer Hursand Imankuliyev was one step away from the medal.He met the sportsman from Mongolia in the weight category up to 60 kg in the quarterfinal.

First two rounds, the opponent of our compatriots was more accurate in punches and in the third round, our sportsman put all the efforts to catch up attacking very actively but yielded to the opponent.

On the 11th days of Summer Asian Games, Turkmenistan national team will take part in judo competitions as well as will continue in kurash wrestling.
