The Foreign Ministry hosted online meeting with Head of the President’s Office of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Shakir Kargar.
High level of Turkmen Afghan relations based on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, constructive policy of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who pays special attention to development of cooperation with neighboring states, especially with Afghanistan, has been highlighted during conversation.
In this regard, it was noted that Turkmen side welcomes the efforts of the Government of Afghanistan for restoration of peace and stability, tries to render support in reconciliation process and integration under its neutral status as well as is willing to give its political space for inter-Afghan talks.
Understanding that process of political development is closely connected with economic growth and humanitarian component, Turkmenistan actively initiates and promotes important projects with participation of Afghanistan.
Construction of TAPI gas line, TAP power line, development of railway communication, Lapis Lazuli transport and transit corridor, infrastructural projects of social, economic and industrial aspect are visual indications of commitment of two countries to the course toward diversification of cooperation. In its turn, it is to make favorable effect on security, stability and development of entire region.
Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have developed considerable package of documents regulating strategic partnership of the sides in transport, energy, construction, science and education spheres. This legal base of cooperation has been added with number of bilateral and multilateral documents signed in September and October this year.
The necessity to continue work for implementation of joint projects of geopolitical and economic character has been highlighted as well as commitment to development of bilateral relations in broad range of directions has been confirmed under the meeting.
