26.09.2019 | The President of Turkmenistan and Ambassador of Great Britain discuss perspective of interstate dialog

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan Hugh Stanley Philpott who presented his credentials to the Head of the State.

Having expressed gratitude for spared time and cordial welcome, the diplomat conveyed the greetings of the Queen Elisabeth II and Prime Minister Boris Johnson who confirmed the intent of Great Britain to develop friendly relations with our country.

Taking opportunity, Mr Philpott congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on coming 28th anniversary of independence, having addressed his best wishes to Turkmen nation.Having expressed gratitude for good words and conveyed return greetings to the Queen and Prime Minister of Great Britain, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated with delight constructive character of international dialog, which is developed both in bilateral format and also under competent international organizations.

Having congratulated the diplomat on the appointment to responsible position, the Head of the State wished him success in his activity.During interested exchange of views on current condition and perspectives of bilateral cooperation, Turkmen leader and authorised representative of Great Britain have stated the presence of significant potential for intensification of beneficial relations in different spheres.

It was mentioned that while implementing open door policy, Turkmenistan has all conditions including favourable investment market for efficient cooperation with foreign partners.Major reformation programmes and infrastructural projects in the country, course toward diversification of the economy provide big opportunities for development of productive partnership, activation of bilateral business contacts, implementation of new joint projects.

Trade and economic sphere, energy sector, telecommunication, agriculture and construction have been outlined among perspective directions.Transport section, where Turkmenistan has initiated number of international projects for formation of multimodal transit and transport corridors, was also highlighted as priority vector of cooperation.

Taking into account strategies of innovative development of our country, good perspective are opened for the partnership in the sphere of implementation of advanced technologies and know-hows.In this context, an important role is given to Turkmen British Trade and Industrial Council, which session was held in Ashgabat last April.

Representative delegation including the heads and representatives of profile organizations and leading British companies specialized in different spheres has come to participate in the forum.Ecological sphere seems to be actual direction of cooperation and beneficial exchange of practice in the light of modern realities.

At the same time, it was noted that fruitful cooperation in humanitarian sphere including in education, science and culture is an integral part of interstate relations.Good opportunities are also available for cooperation in health protection, sport and tourism spheres.

The diplomat assured that from his side, he would comprehensively support further development of strengthening of Turkmen British dialog, traditionally friendly relations between two states and nations, expansion of bilateral economic and business contacts.

In the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Hugh Stanley Philpott expressed the confidence that international cooperation would be developed resting on mutual good will.
