President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation on a working visit.In frames of the visit, the President of Turkmenistan held talks with President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov and took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the national holiday Sabantuy.
In the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov departed from the Ashgabat International Airport to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation.President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aleksey Pesoshin, Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin and the members of the delegation of Turkmenistan greeted the distinguished guest at Kazan International Airport, decorated with the state flags of Turkmenistan, the Russian Federation and Tatarstan.
The cortege of the leaders of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan proceeded to the exhibition of industrial products of the leading enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan.President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the head of the Republic of Tatarstan discussed the prospects for bringing cooperation between the two states at innovative level, the possibility of implementing promising industrial projects based on advanced technologies, and investments into joint ventures.
The motor cortege of the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan headed for the Kazan Kremlin, where President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Rustam Minnikhanov held one-on-one meeting.Welcoming the Turkmen leader, the head of Tatarstan noted that it was a great honour to receive such a distinguished guest, and it was a pleasure that this working visit coincided with the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy.
Thanking the President of Tatarstan for the cordial welcome and hospitality, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the foreign-policy strategy of Turkmenistan prioritized the constructive dialogue with the Russian Federation and its subjects.
During the talks, held in a friendly and at the same time businesslike atmosphere, the heads of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan discussed the prospects and possibilities of bilateral partnership, highlighting among its priority areas trade, economic and industrial sectors, fuel and energy sector, agriculture.
The interlocutors paid particular attention to strengthening traditional humanitarian contacts, primarily in the field of education and science, calling for building up fruitful ties between workers of cultural and arts.
Then, the talks continued with the participation of delegations of the two countries.The President of Tatarstan expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guest for supporting Turkmen-Tatarstan relations.
Given the mutual interest of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan to each other, as well as the systemic, strategic nature of bilateral relations, President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov proposed to open a general consulate of Turkmenistan in Kazan.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to President Rustam Minnikhanov for the invitation to visit Kazan and extended hospitality.The President of Turkmenistan supported the initiative on opening a general consulate of Turkmenistan in Kazan, and suggested to increase the number of flights connecting the capitals of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that in recent years, the relations between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan had reached new level.Cooperation with enterprises and companies of Tatarstan, the reliable partners in Turkmenistan, successfully develops.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed belief that cooperation between the two states satisfied the interests of the peoples of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as the strategy of inter-state relations between our country and the Russian Federation.
A number of bilateral documents were signed during the meeting.Among them are: the Memorandum on Cooperation between the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and Kazan State Energy University ; the Agreement on cooperation between the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and the autonomous noncommercial organization of higher education "Innopolis University"; the Agreement on cooperation between the Turkmen State Institute of Economy and Management and Kazan (Volga region) Federal University; the Memorandum of Understanding between the “Türkmenhimiýa” State Concern and KER HOLDINGS LLC on cooperation in the development of the chemical industry of Turkmenistan; the Memorandum of Understanding between the "Türkmennebit" State Concern and the Public Joint Stock Company TATNEFT named after V.D.
Shashin; the Agreement on cooperation between the "Türkmenawtoulaglary" Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Communications of Turkmenistan and the Public Joint Stock Company "KAMAZ" for supply and maintenance of KAMAZ motor vehicles.
Upon conclusion of the ceremony of signing the documents, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan delivered statement to the press.The Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Russian Federation, a strategic partner of Turkmenistan.
Speaking about the outcomes of the visit, the President noted that productive and positive negotiations and meetings took place, and a wide range of issues were discussed during the top-level talks.

Upon the conclusion of the festivities, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Rustam Minnikhanov left the venue of the celebrations for Kazan International Airport.Highly appreciating the results of the negotiations that marked the new stage in the history of relations between two friendly nations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that he would always be happy to see President Rustam Minnikhanov in Turkmenistan.
Thanking the Turkmen leader for the visit, the President of Tatarstan wished him a happy journey.In the evening, the presidential airliner landed at Ashgabat International Airport, where the government officials welcomed the President of Turkmenistan.
