Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has taken a helicopter tour of the capital and its suburban areas to review the progress of ongoing works, as well as the massive efforts undertaken as part of preparations for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Piloting the helicopter, the head of state took an aerial view of the Olympic Complex that will host sporting events for the Ashgabat 2017 Asian Games.The infrastructure of the region’s largest sports complex includes 30 sporting facilities.

The horse head sculpture, which adorns the grandstand at the Olympic Stadium, is a true gem of the Complex’s original design.The 5th AIMAG symbol has earned a spot in the World Guinness Records, having been recognized as the largest horse head sculpture in the world.

The prestige record book also lists the Aquatics Sports Center at the Ashgabat Olympic Complex as the world’s largest indoor swimming pool.During its construction, the builders took advantage of state-of-the-art technologies and ecologically clean materials to meet high international standards.

During the flight, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov paid special attention to the redevelopment efforts in the capital, and further modernization of its road and transport infrastructure.Along with that, the head of state checked the implementation progress of Ashgabat’s construction projects, including in the residential neighborhood, Parahat-7.

Like in other parts of the city, modern residential buildings (which offer a high standard of comfort to dwellers) and social- and other purpose facilities are under construction in the area.

Aboard the helicopter, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov also assessed the agri-works underway in farmlands in Ak Bugdai etrap, Akhal velayat, and the state of arable fields.Having made several circles above a new “Ak Öýi” building in “Nowruz ýaýlasy” (a specially designated area for Nowruz celebrations) one of the etrap’s scenic parts, the presidential helicopter landed nearby.

At present, the construction project has entered its final stage.The 3,000-seat conference hall has everything necessary to host socio-political forums as well as big cultural events.

The head of state became acquainted with a number of interior design solutions for the “Ak Öýi” building, and a social event center located in close vicinity.Making remarks about the buildings, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov identified the top-quality construction and a perfect blend of the time-honored traditions with the latest trends in the field as the key requirements.

Flying back to the capital, the head of state evaluated the progress of road infrastructure projects underway in Ak Bugdai etrap, Akhal velayat.In particular, a nearby section of the Ashgabat-Mary highway now boasts a 1,258-capacity parking garage which covers an area of 12 hectares.

Ak Bugdai etrap has a 1,400-capacity parking facility.Intercepting parking facilities are intended to ease the road congestion in the capital.At the entrance to the city, after parking their vehicles, non-resident drivers will be offered easy access to public transport.

A 759-capacity intercepting parking zone (with an area of 8 hectares) has been built in the capital’s northern part along the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway.President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov also made an aerial inspection of Ak Bugdai etrap’s farmlands, having focused on the seasonal land treatment measures.

Making a helicopter tour of the capital, the head of state continued to assess the ongoing efforts aimed at the city’s comprehensive development, modernization of its road-transport and engineering infrastructure, lighting systems, construction and reconstruction of roads and bridges, building of different-type facilities.

To optimize and control road traffic, 615 parking facilities with a total capacity of 88,139 cars have been built in Ashgabat, including 34 parking garages, 249 open-air parking zones, and 332 basement-story parking lots in high-rise apartment buildings with improved amenities.

In addition, 42 parking areas (with a total capacity of 21, 294 vehicles) have been erected in Ashgabat’s Berkararlyk, Kopetdag, Bagtyyarlyk and Archabil etraps.A growth in numbers of vehicles in Ashgabat has created a need for more parking lots.

While tackling the tasks, a comprehensive approach, including the ecological and aesthetic aspects should be taken into consideration.The head of state also stressed the importance of ensuring neighborhood improvement and a high standard of comfort in newly-built cottages, when implementing the Ashgabat Development Program’s 15th stage.

Special emphasis was placed on the need to take a well-considered approach to the arrangement of bus stops, construction of underpasses and overpasses.On board the helicopter, the President of Turkmenistan also familiarized himself with the construction progress of the capital’s Golf Center.

The project has already reached its final phase.The head of state Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took an aerial view of the Municipal Services Institute and its buildings.The complex is home to student dormitories, residential houses for teaching staff, the Institute’s main building, and other premises.

Its construction is nearing completion.During the flight, the nation’s leader reviewed the progress of works ongoing in the capital’s western part and took a bird’s eye view of a 14,400-capacity parking facility with an area of 20 hectares.

The President of Turkmenistan evinced much interest in the agri-works underway in the fields (planted to various crops) on the Garagum River bank.Flying above the city’s western part, the head of state inspected the residential complexes currently under construction.

Having focused on the steps to upgrade the traffic system, the head of state gave a number of specific commissions, including on improving social infrastructure at a local level.

Taking a flight trip of the capital’s southern part, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took an aerial view of the large complex of health care institutions tooled with the latest specialized equipment that enables to offer patients a whole range of services up to international standards.

After the helicopter tour, the head of state Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov assigned to concentrate on ensuring the adequate and well-timed preparation and running of the Ashgabat 2017 Games, the capital’s improvement and development, having attached much importance to well-coordinated efforts of the agencies concerned.
