Today, competitions continued in 13 sports at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat.The day saw the Turkmen team win 21 medals (including 6 gold medals) in belt wrestling, kurash, show-jumping, Thai boxing (Muay Thai), and weightlifting events.
The national team of Turkmenistan has already collected a total of 148 medals (59 gold, 43 silver and 46 bronze) at the Games, having taken the lead in the overall medal count.
The Olympic Complex’s main Media Center hosted a media forum attended by journalists, who are providing coverage of the Ashgabat 2017 Games.The forum participants highlighted a high degree of organization of the Games and the availability of excellent facilities to ensure media people’s work.
They shared an opinion that Turkmenistan’s active and coherent policy designed to develop sport and related infrastructure, as well as joint efforts with international sports and media organizations allowed making the Ashgabat 2017 Games one of the most spectacular sporting events.
In the belt wrestling competitions, which are well underway, wrestlers were vying in Kazakh Kuresi and Pahlavani (wrestling styles).In the Kazakh Kuresi wrestling event, Turkmen wrestler Tejen Tejenov (90kg) became a gold medalist; Ishanmurat Ataev (-70 kg) won a silver medal; Kuvvat Nuryev (+90kg) and Ilyas Momunov (70 kg) claimed bronze medals.
In the Pahlavani wrestling event, Suleiman Omarov (70kg) earned a silver medal, and Vadim Petrosyan (+90kg) and Yakup Meredov (90kg) received bronze medals.In the men’s kurash -66kg wrestling competitions, Marat Orazov won a gold medal, having defeated in the final his compatriot Nedir Allaberdyev, who became a silver medal winner.
Maral Sultanova (63kg) and Maria Lohova (70kg) secured silver medals in the women’s kurash events.Muhammed Temirov became a bronze medalist in the men’s -81kg kurash wrestling competition.
In the women’s event, Gulshat Nasyrova (63kg), Nasiba Hallyeva (70kg), Orazgul Seiidova (78kg), Gozel Karimbaeva (78kg) took third places.In the men’s Muay Thai finals, our three boxers competed for the gold medal against Thailand’s boxers.
Mustafa Saparmyradov beat Mana Samchaiyaphum in the -67kg category to earn the gold medal.Jennet Ainazarova won against Sirisopa Sirisak to top the podium in the women’s -57kg competition.
Yanyl Kavisova lost to Thailand’s fighter Tehiran Yadrung and got second place in the women’s -54kg event.In the equestrian jumping events, Turkmen jockey Nikolay Beglaryan (astride Toichi) became the Akhalteke Cup holder.
Saudi equestrian Abdullah Waleed Sharbatly, riding Tagsyr, took second place.Kyrgyz show jumper Kamil Sabitov (astride Tanymal) secured third spot.Weightlifter Rejepbai Rejepov earned a gold medal for the Turkmen national team in the weightlifting -77kg competitions.
Nobody could achieve his combined total of 353 kilograms in the snatch and jerk.Winners were determined in the men’s -68kg and women’s -57 and -67kg taekwondo events.

Our tennis players failed to win in the men’s singles (Round Two).Turkmen chess players Meilis Annaberdyev, Hanjar Odeev, Myahri Geldyeva and Bahar Hallaeva came out with their first victories in the individual events.
