On the occasion of the Constitution and the State Flag Day of Turkmenistan celebrated in our country on May 18, a number of festive events took place in the country and abroad.
One of the bright events was the ceremony of opening the school built by the representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the Funtovo village, the Volga district, the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation.

Meredov attended the ceremony.A lot of local citizens, and Turkmen students, who study in the higher educational institutions in Astrakhan took part in the ceremony.Addressing the guests and participants of the ceremony, the Governor of the Astrakhan region expressed belief in that the new school would become a modern centre of education and the spiritual and moral development of the youth.
The monument of Magtymguly Fraghi was opened along with the school named after the great Turkmen classical poet.The monument was decorated with the immortal lines by the outstanding poet, who, according to the historical information, visited the Astrakhan region several times, and it was there, where the first collection of the poet’s works was published in the Turkmen language hundred years ago.
It should be noted that the monument to the famous poet and thinker, whose creative heritage has become an integral part of the world spiritual treasury, was presented to Astrakhan in 2009 on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the city and installed in the picturesque square of the Astrakhan university.
Poems by Magtymguly sounded during the ceremony that like the new school became a symbol of the strong friendship between the Turkmen and Russian peoples.A lot of warm, cordial words of gratitude for the great gift to the young generation was addressed to Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who pursues the active policy of peace, good-neighborliness and the development of friendly relations.
There are spacious, cozy, light classrooms in the new two-storey school building that occupies the area of 3.500 square metres and is designed for 190 pupils.The classrooms are supplied with the modern equipment, interactive boards and digital projectors.
There are computer classes, laboratories, psychologist and speech therapist rooms, workshops with all the necessary tools for boys, and cooking, dressing and sewing rooms for girls in the school.
There is also a library, a 280-square metre indoor gym, a dining room, a large assembly hall, a medical centre and many other facilities in the new school.
The territory adjacent to the school is equipped with the sports and geographical grounds.There is a classroom for extended daycare group, sleeping rooms for first-graders in the educational block of primary classes.
The project for the construction of the educational institution started in March 2016.The construction was implemented in compliance with the advanced standards and at the expense of Turkmenistan.
Construction materials were delivered to the site by the largest in the region transport and passenger ferry "Berkarar".Today, under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan goes along the path of peace, creation and progress.
That is what the Turkmen people, who live abroad, are proud of.Our compatriots noted that they were happy to realize their belonging to the grandiose transformations on the ancient land of the fathers and where the ideals glorified by Magtymguly Fraghi have found their real embodiment.
The meeting participants expressed belief that in the future, these ties, as well as the friendly Turkmen-Russian relations as a whole, would strengthen and expand in the interests of the two neighboring peoples.
The new modern school in the Volga district, the Astrakhan, which was built by Turkmen entrepreneurs, stands as a guarantor for the further development of the fruitful business relations between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region that contribute to the intensification of relations between the two countries and peoples.
This event is another remarkable page in the history of the development of the traditional Turkmen-Russian humanitarian contacts, enriching the principles of good-neighborliness, which stand as an integral part of the interstate dialogue, which was offered with the new dynamics and strategic character at the highest level.
