More than a thousand young intellectuals from 21 countries across world, such as Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Denmark, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, etc., participated in the 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was held online on January 7-12, 2021.
Turkmenistan was represented by 29 students from 11 specialized and secondary schools from all regions of the country. Young prodigies competed with their peers in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science.
On results of the 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad, Turkmen students won 8 medals. In Computer Science, an 11th grade students of the Ashgabat Specialized School No. 86 Suleyman Atayev and Gurbanberdi Gulladiyev won silver and bronze medals accordingly.
In mathematics, students of the 11th and 10th grades of the specialized comprehensive boarding school named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi in Ashgabat Mammetmyrat Gochmyradov and Emir Vellekov won bronze medals, and an 11th grade student of of the specialized school No. 87 of Ashgabat Nagym Tanryguliyev won silver medal in this discipline.
In the field of Physics, bronze medals of the 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad were received by Kerim Cherkezov, an 11th grade student of the Ashgabat specialized comprehensive boarding school named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, Ovezmuhammet Soyunhanov, an 11th grade student of the specialized secondary school No. 23 named after Gurbannazar Ezizov, Geokdepe region, Ahal province, and Musa Artykov, a 10th grade student of the specialized secondary school No. 22 from the city of Balkanabat.

Let us recall, last year a team of schoolchildren from Turkmenistan also performed worthy in the Zhautykov Olympiad, winning three bronze medals.
The International Zhautykov Olympiad for schoolchildren is one of the most prestigious educational events initiated by Kazakhstan.It is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is organized by the Republican Scientific-Practical Center “Daryn” and the International Information Technologies University.
The Olympiad is named after Orymbek Zhautykov, a Soviet mathematician, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Science of Kazakhstan, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
