17.09.2019 | President of Turkmenistan and new Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Germany exchange views on the prospects of cooperation

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Neithart Höfer-Wissing, who presented credentials to the President of Turkmenistan.

Expressing appreciation for the time taken for the meeting, the diplomat conveyed greetings from the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, to the Turkmen leader.

As noted, building up long-term cooperation with our country is one of the strategic vectors of the foreign-policy course of Germany and the European Union.Welcoming the guest and congratulating him on the appointment to the high post, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed the best wishes to the leadership of Germany.

Confirming Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthen the bilateral ties, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the government of Germany for supporting Turkmenistan’s initiatives within the United Nations, as well as for the constructive partnership for peace and security in the region.

Exchanging the views on the status and prospects of Turkmen-German relations, the President of Turkmenistan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation achieved in recent years.

In this context, the mutual commitment to diversify multidimensional interaction was emphasized.Speaking about the tremendous potential for building up cooperation, the diplomat emphasized that it was possible due to the constructive policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, who pays great attention to strengthening dialogue with European countries.

The Turkmen leader’s proactive approach to building political, economic and cultural partnerships has predetermined the success of joint projects.Reaffirming the mutual focus on enhancing cooperation, the Turkmen leader and Ambassador of Germany outlined the priorities of the dialogue.

Among the key vectors are the fuel and energy sector, the trade and economic sector, transport, urban planning, the agro-industrial complex and many other areas.Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of humanitarian cooperation, in particular in such areas as health care, culture, sports and tourism.

Expressing satisfaction with the high level of partnership in the scientific and educational sphere, including through the German Academic Exchange Service, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Ambassador of Germany called for continuation of cooperation in this area.

The President of Turkmenistan and his guest spoke about the exhibition “Margiana - the Kingdom of the Bronze Age on the Territory of Turkmenistan”, which was organized by the relevant departments of the two states and for more than a year acquainted citizens and guests of Germany with the unique artifacts from the collections of museums of our country.

According to the diplomat, this fact testified to the great attention paid by the President of Turkmenistan to the popularization of the national historical and cultural heritage.Underlining the productive character of the joint work of Turkmen and German scientists in preserving the manuscript heritage, the Turkmen leader emphasized that the activities carried out in the humanitarian sphere were aimed at developing partnership and strengthening mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Thanking once again for the opportunity of a personal meeting, Mr.Neithart Höfer-Wissing assured President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that he would contribute to expanding cooperation in the interests of the two countries.
