In the capital of Poland - Warsaw from March 12 to March 16 passed XXXV International Feliks Stamm Boxing Tournament in which sportsmen from 20 countries, including from Turkmenistan took part.
In the men's category representatives of our national team took third place in total medal scoring.The strongest boxers of the country, who have gained the right to participation in the present tournament in the championship of Turkmenistan passed in February in Ashgabat, have gone to Poland under the leadership of head coach of the national team Alexander Lebzyak.
The highest award was won by Hursand Imankuliev (weight category under 60 kg).The bronze prize-winner of the Islamic Games of 2017 in the quarterfinal confidently overcame his opponent from Mongolia.
The semi-final fight against a Philippine boxer lasted all three rounds, but also here judges unanimously awarded a victory to our sportsman.The toughest decisive bout was for a champion title with Russian Arthur Subhankulov.
The bout was strained, both boxers put a maximum of efforts for a victory, but the sportsman from Turkmenistan became champion.In two weight categories our boxers Zarip Jumaev (under 52 kg) and Arslanbek Achilov (under 91 kg) made their way to the finish, but yielded in decisive duels, having won silver medals.
Bronze awards to the Turkmen command were secured by Jabar Meyleev in the lightest weight category (under 49 kg) and Baky Toychyev in the super-heavy weight (over 91 kg) Thus, our national team has one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The given tournament was one of the stages of preparation for the Asian Games of 2018 to be held in Djakarta.
