President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the letter of gratitude and warm greetings to IWF Interim President, Michael Irani.
Expressing gratitude for the received letter, the President of Turkmenistan expressed great satisfaction and a feeling of joy with the good news. Turkmen athlete - our compatriot Yulduz Jumabayeva won the gold medal in “clean and jerk” category and the silver medal in “snatch” category in under 45-kg weight category in the 2018 World Weightlifting Championship.
“We are very happy and particularly proud of our compatriot, who won the gold and silver medals in weightlifting. Moreover, we are proud of our Turkmen athlete, who broke the world record in “clean and jerk” category in 104-kg weight category, lifting 179 kilograms”, the President of Turkmenistan underlined in his address.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that the development of physical culture and sports, as well as wide international cooperation in this area ranked among the priority areas of the state policy of Turkmenistan.
Modern sports complexes and facilities, including the Olympic Village that has no analogues in the region, have been built and put into operation in Turkmenistan a short historical period.
Guided by the humanistic principles of the Olympic movement, large-scale international sports tournaments have been organized in our country in recent years.
Than is vividly proved by the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which were successfully held in 2017, the Amul - Hazar 2018 International Rally and the World Weightlifting Championship, as well as the Asian Championships in various sports.
“We work hard to ensure the organization of the 2021 World Track Cycling Championship and the qualifying stage of the Davis Cup tournament this year, as well as the 2022 World Sambo Championship at the high level,” the President of Turkmenistan says in his address.
Expressing confidence that the effective partnership between Turkmenistan and the International Weightlifting Federation will continue developing and strengthening, the Turkmen leader reaffirmed the willingness to host weightlifting competitions in our country in the future.
Taking this opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan invited Michael Irani to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him.
