Because of a small number of holiday makers the physiotherapy department has been closed in a health resort in the city of Bairamali. 15 healthcare practitioners, including three medical doctors and 12 nurses as well as maintenance staff were made redundant, according to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”.
In late August the chief physician of the health resort contacted the local authorities and the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry with a request to provide assistance. Both letters went unanswered.
Not only Turkmen residents but also foreign nationals used to visit the medical facility, which helped to maintain financial sustainability of the health resort, which is known across the CIS.
The dismissed healthcare practitioners had a 15 to 20 year work experience.
The remaining employees fear that by the summer the resort might curtail its operations completely.
