Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a videoconference meeting with Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Mukhisa Kituyi of Kenya and Assistant Administrator, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
The meeting was also attended by UNDP Resident Representative a.i.in Turkmenistan, Natia Natsvlishvili.
The meeting participants highly evaluated the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on strategic partnership of Turkmenistan with the United Nations and its specialized agencies, in particular UNCTAD and UNDP. In this context, the importance of fruitful cooperation over the past five years in the development of the digital economy, sustainable transport and trade was emphasized.
In cooperation with UNCTAD, with the active participation of UNDP, an integrated customs information system "ASYCUDA World" was integrated into the system of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
This system will become the main platform for the phased and effective implementation of the "Single Window for Export-Import Operations" system in the financial sector of the country, in particular, in the banking, transport and other sectors, as well as the "Turkmenstandartlary" Main State Service.
On the outcomes of the meeting, the Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on joint cooperation on assistance in implementation of the Single Window for Export-Import Operations in Turkmenistan was signed.
Within the joint project "Single Window for Export-Import Operations" the interested parties are going to intensify digitization of trade and transport relations in frames of the implementation of global and regional strategies for sustainable development.
