“The national healthcare system reaches high levels, large-scale work is carried out to effectively use the potential of medical institutions.Fundamental is conducted in order to provide the population with high-quality medical and preventive services and ensure well-being of citizens”, says President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his address on the occasion of the Day of Workers of Healthcare and Medical Industry.
According to the President of Turkmenistan, the key factor in developing and bringing the healthcare system of the country up to the world level was the State Programme “Health” adopted 25 years ago, which defines the main vectors and principles in strengthening the health of Turkmen citizens, increasing human life expectancy.
As part of the implementation of this Programme, the achievements of world science and practices are introduced, taking into account internal requests, the material and technical base of the industry is modernized.
“Thus, the comprehensive work has been carried out in Turkmenistan to create and improve healthcare sector that meets the criteria of the World Health Organization.In particular, positive results have been achieved to significantly reduce diseases, popularize the principles of healthy lifestyle, and to supply locally produced pharmaceuticals and medicinal agents to the population.
The work done has made it possible to reduce morbidity rate and completely eliminate dangerous infectious diseases.
“Today our neutral state maintains wide-format cooperation in the healthcare sphere with the developed countries of the world.As a result, the food research departments of the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health Care and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan received international accreditation and relevant certificate, and the laboratory of this Center received the status of WHO National Center Influenza and become a member of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System.
“The election of our country as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations World Food Program for 2020-2022, the Commission on Population and Development for 2020-2024, as well as on narcotic drugs is another evidence of the global recognition of our work to provide the population with clean drinking water, to achieve food security, to irreconcilably fight against addiction.
As part of the open door policy, we will continue to pay great attention to the development of international partnership in the healthcare sector.
“Large-scale work is carried out within the framework of the Programme of the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2020-2025, the National Strategy for Increasing the Physical Activity of the Population in Turkmenistan for 2018-2025, the National Programme for the Protection of the Mental Health of the Population in Turkmenistan for 2018-2022, the National Programme on the prevention of the harmful effects of alcohol in Turkmenistan for 2018-2024.
“On the occasion of the Day of Workers of Healthcare and Medical Industry of the country, we open the International Burn Center designed for 130 places, equipped with advanced world technologies, as well as the Medical and Aesthetic Center. These institutions will also provide our citizens with high quality medical services”, says the President in his congratulatory address.
Concluding the Address, the Turkmen leader wished the workers of healthcare and medical industry great success in their work, happiness and family well-being.
