10.09.2018 | President of Turkmenistan and Jean-Louis Schlesser Discuss Aspects of Amul Hazar 2018 Rally Raid

President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is currently in Turkmenabat, received the director general of the Africa Eco Race, the two-times world champion in sports car races, winner of multiple championships in off-road racing, winner of the Dakar Rally and Africa Eco Race, Jean-Louis Schlesser.

The renowned French racing driver thanked the President of Turkmenistan for the opportunity to meet, and stressed he was genuinely delighted to be able to participate in the festivities marking the official opening of the Amul Hazar 2018 International Rally Raid and be involved in organizing this major competition.

The head of state and the director general of the Africa Eco Race exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in this sphere and highlighted the availability of favorable preconditions for implementing joint sports projects.

Jean-Louis Schlesser highly commended Turkmenistan’s achievements in physical training and sports and noted the growing interest of international athletic circles towards our country that possesses perfect core infrastructure and pursues the policy of wide international cooperation.

In this context, the sides discussed organizational and technical aspects of the Amul Hazar 2018 rally raid that is more than just an outstanding sport event, but rather an opportunity to globally popularize Turkmenistan’s richest historical and cultural heritage and natural attractions.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reiterated our country’s commitment to cooperation in sports and presented the guest with a set of commemorative coins minted to mark the Amul Hazar 2018 International Rally Raid.

Jean-Louis Schlesser thanked the Turkmen leader and stressed he was proud to be our country’s partner.The French driver also highlighted the excellent organization of the rally and expressed his to the head of state his warmest gratitude for the cordial welcome accorded to the participants of the competition, for active support in tackling all issues and for optimal conditions created for the rally.

All these lead to unquestionable success of the upcoming rally raid.The meeting continued with discussion that focused on the environmental aspect of the competition.It is no coincidence that the course of the rally will run through the Karakum Desert, as this part of the Turkmen land meets the high criteria in terms of ecology.

The environmental policy pursued in Turkmenistan ensures the environmental sustainability of the Karakum with its unique flora and fauna.It was mentioned that all integrated reforms carried out in our country in economic and social sphere are closely connected with introduction of green technology and the integral environmental component.

Resolution of tasks in this area is complemented by the ongoing project for the creation of the Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake in the Karakum.Another concrete example is the fact that Turkmenistan will soon become the first country in the world to produce synthetic fuel gasoline produced through processing of natural gas that will comply with the Euro-5 standard.

In this context, the guest thanked the Turkmen leader for the efforts and comprehensive support towards promoting environmental initiatives that result in practical implementation through major industrial projects executed in the country.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Africa Eco Race director general, Jean-Louis Schlesser, thanked the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for the meeting and expressed to him the wishes for continued outstanding success.
