President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex and devoted his time to the issues of development of national horse-breeding, promotion of mass sports and preparation for the upcoming major sporting events.

Having special respect and affection for the “celestial” horses, the head of state takes time to visit them and take horseback rides; takes most active care about the continuity of traditions of our ancestors and promotion of the healthy lifestyle.

After visiting the Ahalteke horses, the head of state took a horseback ride on the racehorse named Gujurly.President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov engaged in the exchange of opinions about the development of mass sporting and fitness movement and high performance sports with his son Serdar who rode a stallion called Miras.

It is worth mentioning that the Turkmen leader competed in a race among senior tutor jockeys, was the first to cross the finish line and won the grand prize.

Today, Turkmenistan’s global profile as a sports power is rising.Success of our athletes at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games recently held in Ashgabat glorified the Turkmen sport.

In this aspect, preparations for the holding of this competition on the highest level were of crucial importance.The son of the head of state, member of the National Parliament, Serdar Berdimuhamedov actively engages in the development of mass fitness and sport among the younger generations.

As is known, the young parliamentarian is the head of the National Martial Arts Federation of Turkmenistan whose representatives won the greatest number of medals for our national team at the Ashgabat2017 Games.

During the horseback ride, the President of the country and his son discussed the upcoming AmulHazar 2018 motor rally, bicycle race and the track and field marathon that will run along the route named the Great Silk Road at the suggestion of the head of state.

They also spoke about the upcoming World Weightlifting Championship to be held in our capital, preparation of Turkmenistan’s team for the Olympics that will take place in Japan in 2020.

The coming sports competitions will become landmark events of the current year that will celebrate the motto “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road”.According to the head of state, physical training and sport are the main factors of improving a man’s health, stimulating his proactivity.

Efficiency of ongoing far-reaching measures in our country is ensured by the newly created Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.Major sporting events are unfolding in Turkmenistan, evidencing the success of the state policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who puts the health of the nation above all else.

Then the head of state let the Ahalteke racer gallop down the racing track.In his books dedicated to the “celestial” horses, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov notes that enormous works are conducted in our country to develop the horse-breeding industry, and the worldwide fame of the Ahalteke racehorses is increasing.

Consecutive measures are being implemented to enhance the best horse-breeding traditions of the Turkmen people, to create favorable conditions for breeding the pure Ahalteke racers and for integrating the national horse-breeding into the international industry, thus further promoting the popularity of equestrian sports in our country.

After the horseback ride the head of state, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, left the venue.
